The Appendix contains 5 t e x t s which m a y or m a y not belong to the Archives. As „Supplément" t h e E d i t o r gives 10 new documents found b y him in Wien already when the publication of the whole material was in preparation, t h e second Appendix presenting t h e description of some t e x t s from London, Hei-delberg and chiefly Strassbourg; the fact of their being p a r t of Sarapion's Archives is only probable.
The Excursus No. 1 summarizes the Editor's conclusions about the topo-graphy of the Hermopolite nome and the situation of the grounds belonging t o Sarapion and his sons or leased by them.
I n t h e Excursus No. 2 the Editor making use of t h e economic d a t a contained in the published t e x t s traces t h e developpment of the prices of one artaba of wheat and t h a t of t h e p a y of an agricultural worker till the Byznatine times. The Conclusion brings brief characteristics of t h e Sarapion's family and their members subsequently picturing their pricipal activities.
The volume closes with t h e Indices and 9 plates which show some of the t e x t s presenting more complicated problems.
The publication of the Archives of Sarapion and his sons is a result of m a n y years of strenous work, on which one m a y sincerely congratulate Professor S c h w a r t z .
