Activities of Fr. Zygmunt Kaczynski – Minister of Religious Affairs and Public Education in the government-in-exile (1943–1945)

Summary

The article describes the activity of the priest Z. Kaczynski, a pre-war, Christian Democrat politician. During the Second World War, he was in the UK and between the years 1943–1944, he served as Minister of Religious Affairs and Public Education to the local government-in-exile. This article also discusses the circumstances surrounding the Ministry of Education in France and the Office of Education and School Affairs of gen. J. Haller. The final part of the article presents the actions of Kaczynski as Minister of Religious Affairs and Public Education in the reorganization of the education conducted by this office: setting up new schools and universities, problems dealing with other politicians and the shape of Polish education in the post-war period.
