Foreword from the Editor
The special topic of this issue of Diametros is “ethics for professions” – vari-ous aspects of ethics designed specifically for representatives of certain profes-sions and/or concerned with the specific moral problems that they face in their professional life. Two articles in this section were provided by American authors: Mark G. Kuczewski (Loyola University Chicago) discusses the problems of teach-ing biomedical ethics in the United States, and Lucia D. Wocial (Indiana Univer-sity School of Nursing) considers bioethics education for nurses. Other articles are articles by Polish authors concerning: the teaching of ethics in general (Barbara Chyrowicz), ethics of the legal professions (Hubert Izdebski), business ethics, es-pecially the ethical education of managers (Anna Lewicka-Strzałecka), engineering ethics (Marek Pyka), military ethics (Tomasz Żuradzki) and journalistic ethics (Jan Wawrzyniak). All of theses articles, except for the last one, are derived from pa-pers presented at the “Ethics for professions - what sort and for whom?” web con-ference, organized by the Interdisciplinary Center for Ethics of the Jagiellonian University and the Institute of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University (18-20 June 2010).
