SUMMARY OF THE mEdICal lIbRaRy foRum
Medical Library Forum has been published since 2008 by the Medical University
of Lodz. This the semi-annual periodical available in both printed and online versions, is funded by the Polish Medical Universities. Ryszard Ż m u d a , PhD the Director of the University Library, is the Editor –in Chief of the aforementioned periodical, as well as of Kronikarz (2002/2003 -). Prof. Jacek B a r t k o w i a k , MD, PhD is the Chairman of the Programme Council and the Library Council UM – the consultative and advisory body of the Rector.
The current issue presents articles, educational programs, teaching materials, a directory of archives, and a dictionary of medical librarians which includes deceased, retired and professionally active employees. Our Norwegian friends joined Polish authors.
The foreword to the second issue of 2011 was written by prof. Ludwik G r z e b i e ń SJ, the Director of the Apostole Prayer Publishing House, The Archive of the Polish Southern Province of the Society of Jesus, the Jesuit Priests Scientific Library, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, and the Rector Magnificus of Jesuit University “Ignatianum” (Wyższa Szkoła Filozoficzno-Pedagogiczna “Ignatianum”) which has change its name to Academy “Ignatianum” in Cracow.
Modern library architecture, innovative methods of work and the latest technical equipment tailored to the needs of the XXI century were presented by directors, vicedirectors, and managers of the universities libraries (technical universities and universities) from Bialystok (Halina B r z e z i ń s k a -S t e c , M.A.), from Gdansk (Grażyna J a ś k o w i a k , M.A.), Katowice (prof. Dariusz P a w e l e c , PhD, Jadwiga W i t e k , M.A.), Kielc (Danuta K a p i n o s , M.A.), Cracow (Władysław S z c z ę c h , M.A.), Lodz (Elżbieta S k u b a ł a , M.A., Anna K a z a n ,

The other articles deal with the problems of plagiarism and citations (Bolesław H o w o r k a , M.A.), volunteering (Maria J a k u b o w s k a , PhD), Polish-Norwegian project ”MedLibTrain” (Barbara Niedźwiedzka, PhD, Irene H u n s k å r , Małgorzata S i e r a d z k a -F l e i t u c h , M.A., Regina K ü f n e r -L e i n , Hege S l a t s j ǿ e , Anne S t e n h a m m e r), the educational platform Moodle on which teaching materials related to scientific medical information for doctoral students of medical universities are placed (Renata S ł a w i ń s k a , M.A.), methodology of writing a dissertation (Zdzisław S z k u t n i k , PhD), biographies (Magdalena R z a d k o w o l s k a , PhD and Ryszard Ż m u d a , PhD).
Among reference publications which may be of interest of scientific information users are: the Directory of Medical Universities Archives (Anna K o z a , M.A.) and the Dictionary of Workers of Medical Libraries (1945-2015). This one presents profiles of 9 professors – directors/managers of scientific libraries – scholars, with subjective and objective biography: prof.
