SUMMARY

In 4 types of magnesites distinguished by Z. Gajew-ski, i.e. in I - white, COQlpact magnesite, 11 _ . white, friable magnesite, III - grey, white magnesite and .. IV - yellow magnesite, mineral' composition was

exa-mined by means of thermal-differential, X-ray and chemical analyses. It results from .the examinations that the type I, i.e. white, compact magnesite, showing a 'slight admixture of calcite and quartz, represents the purest variety. Yellow magnesite differs from white, compact one only in having a greater ferruginization degree.

The two' remaining types - II and III - reveal a considerably higher percentage of 'admixtures. These consist of' the following minerals:' serpentinite, talc, quartz, chalcedony and· iron oxides.
