Research into the influence of the Al-Zr alloy production technology on the properties of the wires for electrical purposes
Development of new aluminium and aluminium alloy products on the market of electronics and electrical power engineering is connected with the search for innovative technologies which would allow to lower production costs. In the field of the production technologies for aluminium alloy charge materials for the wire transformation process there are numerous properties which must be controlled. The use of modern casting equipment makes it possible to vary aluminium alloy structure in order to make it not only appropriate, but also attractive from the point of view of the required final wire properties designing. The typical properties which should be subject to control are electrical conductivity, mechanical strength, and heat resistance.
The present paper concerns the influence of two Al- Zr aluminium alloy production technologies on the properties of wires for electrical purposes. The paper presents research and analysis of the research into the influence of production technologies and wire transformation of the heat resistant Al-Zr alloys and characteristics of the properties of the tested materials in terms of the electrical and mechanical properties as well as heat resistance. The mechanical and physicochemical tests were carried out for the materials in the form of the wire rod and cast bars produced in the industrial and laboratory conditions as well as wires of various diameters drawn from them. The research comprised six Al-Zr aluminium alloys with the zircon content from 0.05 to 0.32% of the mass.
