M r . Prentis took issue w ith the recent statem ent by President Roosevelt th a t we in this c o un try “ face the task o f f in d in g jobs faster th a n in v e n tio n s can take th e m aw ay.”

“ Surely it is defeatism for the P resident of the greatest n a tio n in the w o rld tc suggest . . . . ‘the effiiciency o f o u r in d u s tria l processes has created a surplus o f labor.

M r . P rentis declared the u ltim a te purpose o f the w h ole business a n d in d u s tria l organi- z a tio n is to supp ly the needs a n d w an ts o f the p o p u la tio n , a d d in g there is n o lim it to the a m o u n t o f business th a t m ay be done because there is n o yisible lim it to h u m a n needs.
