ANTICIPATED RESULTS OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NEW BASEL CAPITAL AGREEMENT FOR POLISH BANKS
Abstract
Anticipated results of the implementation of The New Basel Capital Agree- ment for Polish banks.
The article presents the assessment of the level of preparation of banks for the introduction of The New Basel Capital Agreement. The agreement changes the way of calculating the capital adequacy in banks. The new methods of the calcula- tion of required capital diminish credit, market and operational risk. Thus, the aim of the article is to discuss the views on the method of indicating capital ad- equacy and to justify the thesis that the new international standards of indicating capital adequacy, at least at the starting point, will favour big credit institutions whereas small commercial and co-operative banks in Poland will be marginalized.
To present the issue fully, the article presents the results of research carried out by Basel Association of Bank Auditing which aimed at determining the influence of those regulations on capital requirements (QIS3 and QIS5).

TAYLOR’S THEORIES VERSUS OTHER AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE
Abstract
The article focuses on various factors and areas of knowledge which affected the development of Frederick Winslow Taylor who is considered the father of so called scientific work organization and one of the main pioneers of the science
grounds were emphasized as well as professional practice, education and finally the interest in sport. The author attempts to prove that the knowledge of sports training, in particular human motor functions, might have been the major inspi- ration in Taylor’s experiments on improving labourers’ performance.

CATASTROPHIC RISK AND ROLE OF STATE IN ITS MANAGEMENT
Abstract
This paper presents the problems of protection against catastrophic risk and strategic role of state in its management. The results of catastrophic risk exceed financial means of insurance business, as well as very often financial means of particular countries, because they have more and more global character, mainly related to global changes of climate. It proves the need to increase the state com- mitment in management of disaster risk and compensation of its effects. More- over global character of catastrophic risk sources is a matter of many interna- tional level initiatives, both at European and world level.

THE CONCEPT OF MARRIAGE IN POLISH LAW AND CANONICAL LAW
Abstract
The article touches upon the topic of determining three dimensions of marriage:
canonical, civil and concordat based. The marriage is not only a legal institution – as many different currents of religious moral and cultural backgrounds affect it strongly. It has to be admitted that the law treats marriage in a special way, it gives a certain shape to it and guarantees its protection. Marriage, in law, is defined as incessant relationship between a man and a woman, entered due to their will. It is based on linking spouses in the spheres of personal affairs and property. Discussing marriage exclusively in a legal world does not bring the full image of the relationship. Other aspects, such as religion, ethics, sociology and psychology should be taken into account.

APPLICATIONS OF MICROSOFT EXCEL PROGRAM FOR SOLVING STREAMLINING TASKS
Abstract
Microsoft Excel is, in this time, the most common spreadsheet in Poland. Rel- atively small part of its users however, not only doesn’t exploit fraction of offered by the program possibilities, but even doesn’t realized the fact, how powerful tool the Microsoft’s product is. Described in article a bit funny task of bank robbery is excuse to the introduction of the Solver – the advanced optimization tool, which is the integral part of the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. The solution of the task of packing gold and silver bars is presented step by step in such a way, that the reader could master basic function offered by the Solver and also use this tool in solving many everyday optimization problems in the future.

MORTAR PARALLEL ALGORITHM FOR SOLVING ELLIPTIC PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS
Abstract
The mortar element method was first developed for the purpose of coupling different discretizations in different nonoverlapping subdomains. In this paper, we consider the overlapping mortar finite element methods for solving two-dimen- sional elliptic problems discretized on overlapping non-matching grids. The main advantage of non-matching grid methods is that highly structured local grids and corresponding fast solvers can be used easily. To preserve the global accuracy of the discretization, the interpolation between the neighboring subdomains has to be sufficiently accurate. The mortar method provides one such interpolation scheme that passes the values of a function from one grid to another without loos- ing accuracy as will be shown in this paper. We prove an optimal error bound and estimate the condition numbers of three-subdomain overlapping case. We show that the error bound is independent of the size of the overlap and the ratio of the mesh parameters. Numerical examples are presented to support our theory.

CONTROLLABILITY OF LAME’S EQUATIONS
Abstract
The paper deals with the problem of controllability for partial differential equations. Approximate controllability for variable coefficients anisotropic Lame system is considered. Exact controllability holds whenever one of the additional geometric conditions is fulfilled.
