1. Full-scale game-theoretic market modeling is a versatile tool for detecting the ex-ercise of market power.

2. The price peaks resulting from the exercise of market power are not good signals for investment decisions.

3. Wind integration leads to lower electricity prices. 4. Low electricity prices are not desirable in power systems.

5. The market design in Europe does not remunerate sufficiently supply-side flexi-bility required in power systems with high share of wind power.

6. Transparency is beneficial for electricity markets.

7. Increased subsidies for renewable power generation sources result in a necessity for subsidies for traditional power generation sources.

8. Regulation creates disturbances in market, which call for more regulation. Most of the market processes should be left to the “invisible hand of the market”.

9. Cities should be designed for public transport, not for personal cars.

10. From game-theoretic perspective benevolent dictatorship is the best political sys-tem in terms of social welfare.

These propositions are regarded as opposable and defendable, and have been approved as such by the promotor Prof.dr.ir. P.M. Herder.
