T h ro u g h o u t th e p erio d of th e tw e n ty y e a rs of Che ex isten c e of th e D e p a rtm e n t of Econom y, it m an ag e d to a tta in v e ry good h o u sin g con­ d itio n s an d it c o n sid erab ly d evelo ped its scien tific a n d d id actic ac tiv ity . T h is ev id e n t g ro w th w as m a rk e d above all in th e d e v e lo p m e n t of th e acad em ic s ta ff an d in th e g re a t scale on w h ic h th e ed u c atio n of s tu d e n ts is co nducted. H ere, it is b e tte r to q uo te som e n u m b e rs w h ich in th is case speak m o re th a n th e w ords.

In 1965 th e D e p a rtm e n t b eg an its w ork, w ith th e s ta ff e s tim a tin g tw e n ty -o n e m e m b e rs in eleven re se a rc h -d id a c tic u n its (faculties). T he th e n only fa c u lty — econom ics of a g ric u ltu re re ceiv ed s ix ty -e ig h t s tu ­ d en ts.

N ow adays, th e th re e specializatio ns: econom ics, o rg a ­ n iz a tio n of p ro d u c tio n (w ith th e sp e c ia lity of econom ics ad o rg a n iz atio n of a g ric u ltu re , an d econom ics an d o rg a n iz atio n of in d u stry ), o rg a n iz a ­ tion of m a n a g e m e n t, an d socio-econom ic one re ceiv ed th e to ta l n u m b e r of tw o th o u sa n d s and fifty -se v e n stu d e n ts (includ in g eig h t h u n d re d an d tw e lv e in th e b ra n c h of UMCS in Rzeszów).
