The results of ship vibration measurements carried out in Japan have been summarized
in the form of fol1owig tables and figures.

"PARTICULARS OF SHIP" shows the general information on the type of test ship, its
propelling machinery, its construction, principal dimensions and the others.
In
this table, the shipbuilder's name is shown in abbreviated form, and full name
of
the builder corresponding to the abbreviated name is presented below.
"METHOD OF VIR.TIO1 MEAJREI'NT" shows the test condition of vessel, its loading
plan and the vibration exciter and vibrograph used in the experiments.
"ARRANGEMENT
OF MEASURED POINTS" shows the position of exciter and main engine, arid the
arrange-ment of measured points graphically.
'TEST RESULTS" is divided into two parts.
In part 1 the experimental results obtained
from vibration exciter tests are summarized.
"RESONANCE CURVES" shows only two curves measured at fore and after
ends for vertical
and horizontal modes respectively.
And "MODE CURVES" shows the vibration profiles
of the hull in the various modes of vibration at resonant frequencies.
These have
been presented in non-dimensional form in which th
arhplitude at any position in the
ship length is expressed as a ratio of the ordinate of exciting position.
In part 2
the experimental results obtained from propelling tests are summarized and in these
cases only resonance curves measured at fore and after ends are shown.
On a few
ships on which the exciter tests have not been carried out, only part 2 is shown in
