SYSTEM/ EQUIPMENT Bearer plates break on Sgns type wagon n.3353 4557 144-2
SAFETY ISSUE DESCRIPTION During the maintenance activities at Melzo Scalo plant, it was detected the breakage of the bearer plates between the bogie and the chassis of the Sgns wagon type n.3353 4557 144- 2 . Pending for more detailed investigation that may lead to the identification of the causes, the Italian NSA requested to keepers, in agreement with the ECMs, must carry out a specific check on the component subject to breakage on the Sgns type wagons and assimilable to them, defining under which conditions and after which further checks these vehicles can continue to circulate.Railway undertakings may use the Sgns type wagons of their fleet and assimilable to them, on the basis of the indications received from the keepers and the ECMs and must exclude from circulation vehicles for which the conditions have not been defined by the aforesaid entities, taking any further measures necessary to ensure the safe operation of its part of the system.

REASON FOR ISSUE It has been reported to this Agency, with the note attached to the present, that during the maintenance activities at the Melzo Scalo plant the breakage of the bearer plates between the bogie and the chassis of the Sgns wagon type n.3353 4557 144-2 was detected. The wagon was produced by RC ROMVAG SA, the keeper and the ECM is TOUAX Rail Ltd.
