British S h i p b u i l d e r s ' Offshore Division are offering t h e i r o w n design of Heavy-Duty Drilling S e m i - s u b m e r s i b l e for exploration in deeper water, harsher environments and more remote areas. Designated the BS 8000 DP, t h e design includes d y n a m i c - p o s i t i o n i n g , and provides f o r i c e - s t r e n g t h e n i n g and enclosed w o r k i n g areas for A r c t i c conditions. If required. The c o n f i g u r a t i o n i n -corporates many of those features which would make it suitable f o r operation as a floating p r o d u c t i o n platform, such as an extensive deck area, high payload, large moonpool and high drill floor.

C o v e r illustration : S h i p s in the covered dry dock at British S h i p b u i l d e r s ' Yarrow yard are heated by t w o Casaire natural gas fired systems. Each supplies heated air along insulated ducts which pass out on long hinged b o o m s to a position above the ship's deck and then via flexible ducts into t h e ship.
