B At first, only the Chinese kings and queens wore silk clothes.
C Then, a really strange thing happened.
One of the ancient Chinese inventions is silk. This material is made by silkworms and it’s very soft but also strong and expensive.
In China, there is a legend that when the 14-year-old Queen Leizu was sitting under a mulberry tree in her palace garden and drinking tea, a cocoon fell from the tree into her drink.
1In the hot drink, the cocoon turned into a white thread. Leizu pulled it out from her tea and started to twist it around her finger. She then had the idea of using the thread to make silk fabric.
