“Diagnostic May 2019”

— Competition

The “Diagnostic May” conference, organized every two years by the Lublin Branch of the Polish Society of Laboratory Diagnostics, has found permanent space in the calendar of scientific events. The main goal of this venture is to encourage active participation of young diagnosticians in conferences and conventions devoted to diagnostics and laboratory medicine. The focal point of these events is a competition for the best mini-lecture presentation.

During several last conferences we witnessed marked improvement of the quality of delivered speeches, better confidence and speaking skills and wider range of interesting topics. Unfortunately, we know from experience that lectures are usually soon forgotten despite the great effort put into their preparation and public presentation. The audience has the lingering impression of uniqueness and excellence of some presentations, but... to keep them in mind for longer seems an impossible task. This is related to the capacity of human memory and the ability to apply newly acquired data into everyday practice. For this reason we have decided to change the formula of “Diagnostic May”

conference and competition. The new form of this prestigious project guarantees the durability of effort invested by Authors in the preparation of presented lectures.

And so this year, the best papers in Laboratory Diagnostics prepared by young scientists of the medical profession (laboratory diagnostician, nurses or physicians) with a license to practice, will not only be awarded and presented in form of lecture during the Conference planned for October 2019 but will also be published in the Journal of Transfusion Medicine.

The organizers of the 2019 Competition are:

— Lublin Branch of the Polish Society of Laboratory Diagnostics,

— Clinic of General, Oncological and Metabolic Surgery at the Institute of Hematology and Trans- fusion Medicine.

The competition takes place under the auspices of:

— Association for Treatment of Massive Hemorrhage.
