Bogusław Żurakowski (
Prof. D r hab. P h .D .) is a retired extraordinary professor o f Jagiellonian U niversity and a doctor habilitatus o f the hum anistic scien ces in p h ilol o g y and p ed agogy w ith specializations in didactic studies, cultural scien ces, and literary studies. H e w as an academ ic teacher o f the Jagiellonian U niversity (1 9 8 2 2 0 1 0 ), the vice-president o f the P edagogical Institute (1 9 9 6 -2 0 0 2 ), the founder o f the Institution o f E ducation through A rt (1 9 9 6 -2 0 0 0 ), the founder and the head o f the Institution o f the P ed agogy o f Culture (2 0 0 0 -2 0 0 9 ), a professor o f the H igher H um anistic School in G dańsk (2 0 1 0 -2 0 1 3 ), a scholar and teacher o f the D epart m ent o f A rtistic Education, a scholar and teacher at th e Institution o f Education through A rt and Literature in the H igher School o f P h ilosophy and P ed agogy „Ig- natianum ” (Jesuits) in C racow (1 9 9 4 -2 0 0 4 ), and a scholar and teacher in Institute o f P olish P h ilology in the H igher School o f P ed agogy in O pole (1 9 6 8 -1 9 8 2 ). H is dissertation for h is habilitation w as, „Literatura - W artość - D zieck o ” [“Literature - V alue - C hild”] (K raków 1993). H is doctoral dissertation w as, „W św iecie poezji dla d zieci” [“In the W orld o f Poetry for Children”] (W SP O pole 1975). H e has m ultidisciplinary field s o f investigation: ped agogy o f culture; literary studies; edu cation through literature and art; com m unication o f culture; axiological education; a x iology o f literature; literary education. H e has diversified experiences o f creativity in poetry, practical anim ation o f literary culture („P oezja i G w iazdy” - „Poetry and Stars”), and literary criticism . H e is a m em ber o f PE N -C lub. H e has b een elected b y w riters to b e vice-president (1 9 9 2 -1 9 9 6 ) and president (1 9 9 6 -2 0 0 8 ) o f the C racow D epartm ent o f the P olish W riters’ S ociety (w hen tw o P o lish laureates o f the N ob el prize belon ged to th e department: C zesław M iło sz and W isław a Szym borska). H e is a laureate o f the International P E N -C lub P rize (L ondon 1964) and the on ly P olish laureate o f the International Foundation C arlo C ollodi „P inocchio” P rize (R om e 1983).
