M. Weijgand Onderzoek naar lichterterminal in de Eemhaven. Masters thesis, Report 95.3.TT.4499B, Transport Technology.
In connection with project 2000-Short will be tried to develop the Eem- and Waalhaven area into a multi modal centre where an optimal use of the modal split Short Sea, Deep Sea, road, railway and barges is possible. In this research based on a number of reasons a general applicable terminaldesign is developped which leads to a more efficient handling possibility of the barges. For this reason the present traffic by barges has been investigated just like the present methods of the handling of ships. The developments which are relevant to the bargetraffic and can be expected in the near future have formed a part of the research.
For the implementation of the general terminaldesign in the Eemhaven the containerflows in the region have been investigated. The restrictions on the terminal are listed, after which on the basis of a number of arguments a suitable terminallocation was selected. A further development of the total design is produced, which includes among other things the routing of the horizontal transportation system, the positioning of the stacking cranes and the way the berths have been arranged.
