Boy: Hi Lucy! How are you?
Girl: Oh, hi Mike. Well, I’m fine, I guess…
Boy: You don’t look happy. What happened?
Girl: Eh, it’s a long story. You know that I play basketball every week?
Boy: Right. Every Thursday?
Girl: No, I have trainings on Fridays now. Anyway, I went there as usual. After the training, I had to leave quickly because I was going shopping with my parents. And… I left my phone in the gym.
Boy: Oh no! Did you return to the gym to check if it’s still there?
Girl: Yeah, I went there on Saturday but it was closed. I have to tell my parents now… they’ll be so mad!
Boy: Did you try calling your number?
Girl: I did but the battery was low so it didn’t work.
Boy: Well, cheer up. Maybe it’s still in the gym. I can go with you if you want. What time do you finish classes?
Girl: At half past two. I have Geography and English.
Boy: Let’s meet here, in front of the chemistry classroom, OK? We’ll leave from here together, then we’ll stop at my house, it’s on the way to the gym. I have to feed the dog.
Girl: OK.
Boy: And don’t worry! I’m sure it’s still there!

I’m a very creative person. I like painting and drawing very much. But let’s be honest – at scho- ol I didn’t have a big chance to practice. I had only one 45-minute art class per week. All we did was opening a coursebook and learning boring facts about famous painters. We didn’t paint at all! My real adventure with painting started two years ago when I began my private painting classes. I meet my instructor once a week for three hours.

I’ve always wanted to create beautiful paintings but until recently I thought that all of them were ugly. However, my mum has bought me a special book. There are some painting exercises and tips in it. I’m trying to follow them and… I’m surprised because I’m getting better and better! Even my friends see it! Maybe I’ll become a real artist one day?

I really admire people who can paint. I tried it once, but I failed. I’m not worried, though because what I like most is looking at the famous painters’ masterpieces in art galleries. My mum’s an artist too. She paints beautiful landscapes. She’s taught me how to look at paintings and what is the meaning of them. When we visit a gallery she often tells me some facts from the artists’ lives. They’re important, as well!

I understand that some people like painting or just looking at famous paintings. For me it’s quite boring… and I hate art classes at school! I visited a very famous gallery last year. I saw many well-known paintings there. Many people from my class liked it but it was nothing special for me. Every painting was the same. I didn’t see any difference at all!
