B. Schrijvers Het krachtenspel op de schroeftransporteur in mammoetsilo's
Engineering Assignment, Report 98.3.TT.5056, Transport Engineering and Logistics.
Bulk solids can be stored in mammoth-silo's, where the input and output of the material is done with a horizontal screw conveyor or a slanting screw conveyor. For the design of the screw conveyor it is important to know the forces which act on the system. This report clarifies how to calculate the forces, which act on the total system of screw conveyor, frame, hoisting cables and (possible) centre pillar. This is possible, if the propertics of the granular material, the dimensions of the screw conveyor and the angular velocities of the screw conveyor are known. The forces are determined for the horizontal screw conveyor as well as for the slanting screw conveyor.
