IVlarch by Mitsui Engineenng &
Ship-building at its Chiba yard. She will be
able to carry up to 4700TEU for her
owner, MOL Euro-Orient Shipping
(Mit-sui OSK Lines!. Features include holds
for eight tiers and 10 boxes abreast, with
75 abreast on deck, secured with the aid
of lashing bndges. Up to 350 refrigerated
containers can be loaded. The main
engine, a Mitsui-MAN B&W WK90MC
low-speed unit, develops 59,600bhp and
drives a high-skew propeller at 94rev/
min. Electrical power is provided by a
1200kW thryristor-controiled shaft
alter-nator (which can aiso act as a propulsion
booster), a steam turbo-alternator, and a

A package of ac electric anchor and
moonng winches has been supplied by
Aquamaster-Rauma to the new TT-Line
diesel-electric ferry Robin Hood, nearing
compietion at Finnyards. in totai, eight
18 tonne units are on board: three on the
forecastle, three aft, and two specialiy
tailored to fit a narrow space outside the
cargo deck amidships for mooring at
short ro-ro piers. Those seen here on the
forecastle serve four moonng lines on
drums and extra lines on two warping
heads. Windlasses for 64mm chain are
combined in two of the units, and the
brakes are fitted with electro-hydraulic
release controiied from the wheelhouse;
speed and length of payout are also
indi-cated. Further information on other new

tech-nology to steeiworldng lines, often to
overcome severe labour shortages. Seen
