The Voice of the Editor-in-Chief

Dear Colleagues,

The 5th Conference of the Clinical Diabetology jour- nal was held on 17 and 18 June 2016 in Warsaw. The conference brought together a group of distinguished lecturers and almost 500 participants — physicians dealing in their everyday practice with carbohydrate metabolism disturbances. During this two-day meeting, many topic covering the aspects which have significant implications for clinical practice were discussed:

• Are statins a sufficient solution in diabetic patients with atherogenic dyslipidaemia?

• Type1 diabetes — is it so obvious?

• Patients with cardiovascular disease and diabetes

— new procedures in cardiology

• Hypoglycaemia in diabetes — a threat for the heart and brain?

• Prediabetes — who should be screened and who should be treated?

• Pregnancy — a diabetologist’s point of view

• Searching for the optimization of type 2 diabetes management — are we on eve of the change in the sequence of oral drugs administration?

• Ischaemic stroke — does diabetes influence thera- peutic decisions?

The formula of the meeting has been changed, which, similarly to modifications of the journal itself, aimed at increasing its scientific value and its impact on challenging therapeutic decisions and, subsequently, at improving the quality of life of our patients. Hereby, I would like to thank the Publisher, Via Medica, the Main Board of the Polish Diabetes Association and all its members and friends who contributed to unques- tionable success of the conference.

Enjoy your reading
