LETTER TO READERS

Dear Collegues,

The current SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) pandemic has become one of the greatest health challenges facing the world in 2020. Cancer patients are a heterogeneous group, and the type of systemic and local treatment may affect their immune response and the course of any infection.

In the group of high risk of severe course of SARS-CoV-2 infection, there are undoubtedly cancer patients with many comorbidities, especially cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, in old age and in the advanced stage of the disease. Although the impact of oncological treatment on the course of SARS-CoV-2 infection remains unclear, international guidelines recommend postponing chemotherapy or elective surgery in specific indications in endemic areas. During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, the oncological community continued its work despite numerous challenges in the functioning of medical care. To meet the expectations of our community and to present and analyze our own experience in cancer patients therapy and SARS-CoV-2 infection, the Oncology in Clinical Practice journal invites you to submit short case reports in the Clinical vignettes on COVID-19 format.

We hope that the presented clinical experiences will contribute to the improvement of cancer care.

Prof. dr hab. n. med. Renata Duchnowska Editor of Clinical vignettes on COVID-19
