The authors describe the variability of chemical character of montmorillonite minerals that represent the component of bentonitized tuffs and tuffites and occur at the identical stratlgraphic horizon of the Po-reba beds (Namurian A) in the Upper Silesian Coal Basin. The variability in chemical composition of the monttnorillonites discussed in this paper is connected with the variability in dime~ions of e1ementar cell in the structure.
