SUMMARY
Su;1phUl' deposits ex.ploiteld by hot-water mining
are fGrmed. .:by I!wpnur-bearing limest()nes ()Ccurring wIthin the so-called ore series. Figure 1 illustrates several modes of development of this series which have distinguished. rt was noted that the average outpu·t from holes
oP)
£n various parts or.f the ore is . proportional to the yield of the ore (z). whereas the degree of yield utl.lizatlon is inversely proportional to the yield (Figs. 5 and 6). For complete exploitation of the ore, distances between ex.pldtationaa holes should be differentiated in relationto
the ore· yield. This dlst8lllce can be calculated using the formulas 2 and 3 (in the formulae, q means water supply in c. m. per hour, 'C time of exploitation of a hole inmonths, W - thickness
ot
the ore, k . - coerMicient). ConsumptiGn of water (per tons of sulphur)~epends on develo'pment of ore series 8lIJ.d is high where the -contri'butiGn of spoil limestones in the ore is high, and low where the limestones do not ocour.
The ore was subdivided into regions differing in· geolOgical yield and i·n the type of ore series profiae; according to the albove me.n.tioned interrelation, shtp 'between production effects and geological conditions, adequate methods of explodtation sh()uld be selected for particular regi()ns (Fig. 9).
The model studies (Fig. HI) have shown that in the course of exploitation water supply to the holes should be kapt as high and- as unilform as possible. This should result in better utilization of the ore, lower water consumption per. ton of sulphur . and more stable workiill1g conditions for filters. For ade-quate ore utill'Zation it is also necessary to carry out exploitation by rows of holes. Dis'tances between . rows should be greater than those between the holes
in' a gi!ven row; they are determined by the formula
(4). Inclusion of a succesive row to exploitation should takepla-ce when. its background is heated by the holes of the prevdous row to the temperature close to that c,t. sul'phur melting.
