Wśród nich obiecującym kandydatem do zastosowań technologicznych (elektrody do MTJ) dzięki wysokim temperaturom Curie i dużemu magnetooporowi w temperaturze pokojowej są podwójne perowskity (DP).
Stwierdzono brak możliwości podniesienia Tc w serii SCRO poprzez tzw. „domieszkowanie elektronowe", a uzyskane rezultaty zainicjowały badania nad mechnizmem zwiększania Tc w innych DP. W rozprawie przedstawiono także wyniki pionierskich pomiarów XMCD w wysokich magnetycznych polach impulsowych. W połączeniu z pomiarami namagnesowania dowodzą one istnienia niezerowego momentu orbitalnego Re. Dokonano również szczegółowej charakteryzacji serii SCRO i Fe-Re.
Structural, magnetic and electronic properties of Re-based double perovskites
Half metallic compounds (i.e. possessing only one spin direction at the Fermi level) have recently attracted much interest due to their possible applications in the field of Spin Electronics (SE). Among them the Double Perovskites (DP) are particularly interesting owing to their high Curie temperature (Tc) and a high magnetoresistance at room temperature.
The experimental part of the Thesis is divided into three chapters, each of them related to different group of the compounds. Consequently Sr2CrReO6 (SCRO), A2FeReO6 series (A2 = Ba2, BaSr, Sr2, Ca2) and Sr2-xLnxCr1+yRe1-yO6 (Ln = Nd, La, Sm) series are discussed separately. Each of the three chapters contains the experimental data together with its analysis and a discussion of the results.
Results obtained confirm high Tc of the investigated DP compounds, being of the primary importance taking into account possible SE applications. Not less important are the electronic transport properties, so the ITMR mechanism was studied by means of magnetoresistivity magnetization measurements also in high static magnetic field. We have also demonstrated a lack of Tc enhancement effect by so called "electron doping" (ED). This implied necessity of further studies on the Tc rise mechanism in DPs. In the Thesis, the results of the pioneer XMCD study under high pulsed magnetic fields are presented. Together with the magnetization measurements they confirm the presence of the unquenched orbital magnetic moment of Re in the DPs structure. The detailed structural characterization of SCRO and Fe-Re DP series is presented as well.
