Uncertainty analysis in acoustical modeling of room
Computer programs are increasingly used in designing room acoustics, but the problem of determining the reliability of these simulations are so far unresolved. It is necessary to determine both the acoustic measurement and simulation results uncertainties in order to determine the degree of divergence of simulation results with actual values measured in the room. The essential input data for modeling room acoustics are amount, type and location of the sound‐absorbing materials, measurement chain elements location, climate conditions, etc. In many cases this values are variable and therefore their precise determination is difficult and sometimes even impossible. Therefore, it is useful to know how inaccurate determination of these parameters may influence the final result of modelling.
The results of computer simulations and measurements in real interior, when changing various input parameters, were shown in the paper. The subject of measurements and calculations was to determine the sound pressure" level and other parameters derived from the room impulse response (T30, EDT, C80, STI) and the sensitivity analysis of this output parameters to change various input parameters. In order to determine these parameters the room impulse responses, using MLS method, were measured. Experimental studies have been used to verify the acoustic room model and its sensitivity, built using enhanced radial method algorithms. This allowed ultimately determine the sensitivity of output parameters to measurement chain elements location and orientation
