W pracy podjęto problematykę synergicznego oddziaływania dwóch obróbek wykończeniowych na właściwości narzędzi przeznaczonych do obróbki plastycznej na zimno. Określono wpływ nagniatania ślizgowego kompozytem diamentowym i azotowania gazowego na wybrane właściwości użytkowe stali narzędziowych Sverker 21 i Vanadis 6. Przedstawiono aktualny stan wiedzy dotyczący łączonych procesów obróbki powierzchniowej obejmujących proces deformacji plastycznej warstwy wierzchniej i dyfuzyjnej obróbki cieplno-chemicznej. W ramach optymalizacji procesu nagniatania przeprowadzono pomiary struktury geometrycznej powierzchni próbek z badanych stali. Oceny właściwości użytkowych dokonano m.in. poprzez badania tribologiczne metodą ball-on-disc.
Analiza wyników badań potwierdziła postawioną w pracy tezę. Udowodniono, że synergiczne oddziaływanie procesu nagniatania ślizgowego i azotowania gazowego sprzyja wzrostowi i ujednorodnieniu warstwy azotowanej, podnosi mikrotwardość warstw powierzchniowych, zapewnia korzystny stan naprężeń ściskających i w efekcie podwyższa odporność na zużycie ścierne stali narzędziowych.
Analysis of the effect of slide diamond burnishing and nitriding on some properties of Vanadis 6 and X153CrMoV12 (NC11LV) tool steels
The effects of the synergistic interaction of two commonly used industrial finishing treatments, slide diamond burnishing and gas nitriding, on two tool steels, Sverker 21 and Vanadis 6, are reported. The current state of knowledge concerning the combined surface treatment processes, including plastic deformation of the surface layer and thermo-chemical treatment are presented. In order to optimize the burnishing process, measurements of surface geometrical structure of the steel samples were made. Observation of the microstructure and chemical composition analysis of structural components in the studied layers, separately after turning and nitriding and after combined treatment: turning- burnishing-nitriding, were carried out. Modulus of elasticity and microhardness were determined on metallographic section after the surface treatments. Microscopic studies and XRD for the identification of phases were performed for both steels after heat treatment and after selected surface treatment processes. The effects of treatments on internal stresses in the surface layer for both steels, subjected to four variants of treatment (turning, turning-burnishing, turning-nitriding, turning- burnishing-nitriding) were also analyzed. Assessing the performance was made, inter alia, by tribological testing by the ball-on-disc method.
Analysis of the research results confirmed the proposed thesis of this work. It was proved that the synergistic interaction of slide diamond burnishing and gas nitriding promotes the growth and homogenization of the nitrided layer, increases the microhardness of surface layer, provides beneficial compressive stress state and consequently increases the wear resistance of tool steels.
