Przedstawiona rozprawa dotyczy badań nad zakresem stabilności i właściwościami fizycznymi stopów Ti-Zr-X (X=Mn, Co, Ni, Cu).
Presented PhD thesis addresses issues of possible existence of amorphous and quasicrystalline phases in Ti-Zr-X (X=Mn, Co, Ni, Cu) alloys. On the other hand, the physical properties of those alloys were investigated with the emphasis of hydrogen-related structural properties. The main aim of this study was to find a synthesis route allowing to obtain amorphous, deuterided or hydrided Ti45Zr38Ni17 -xMx (M=Mn, Fe, Co, Cu) alloys. Moreover, the thermal evolution of structural
properties of basic and deuterided alloys was investigated. For composition Ti45Zr38Ni17 the icosahedral quasicrystal phase was obtained. For other
compositions, such as Ti45Zr38Ni17-xMx (M=Mn, Fe, Co, Cu) it was possible to obtain purely amorphous materials. It was proved that there is a lack of long range magnetic order for Ti45Zr38Ni|7 quasicrystal at temperatures above 1,5 K and in 5 T
magnetic field. Furthermore, the thermal expansion of the icosahedral phase investigated in a wide temperature range is in good agreement with calculations of phonon density of states. All synthesized alloys absorbed a considerable amount of hydrogen exceeding 2wt.%. For Ti45Zr38Cui7 amorphous alloy a concentration of 2,52wt.% was evidenced. Moreover the hydrogen uptake kinetics was found to be the highest among investigated alloys. What is extremely interesting all of the amorphous alloys did not change its structure after hydrogen/deuterium absorption. During the annealing of synthesized materials and their deuterides, an interesting phase transitions were evidenced, in particular, so called "glassy quasicrystals" were observed.
