Przeprowadzono obliczenia
W dalszych obliczeniach utworzono bardziej skomplikowane modele, aż do modelu komórki prymitywnej. Dzięki wykonaniu obliczeń dla ogromnej liczby konfiguracji atomowych, możliwe było wyznaczenie entropii konfiguracyjnej badanych struktur.
Computer simulations of stability of the metallic atomic clusters in quasicrystals and intermetallic alloys.
The goal of this PhD thesis is an examination of stability of quasicrystals represented by AlNiCo alloy and stability of complex metallic alloys represented by β and β' phases of Mg2Al3. Potential energies of various atomic configurations are
computed. It allows to find the most stable configurations.
A few sets of clusters are created for AlNiCo alloy. The sets differ in Ni and Co proportion. Each set consists of a few clusters. This clusters differ in size and number of atoms. The potential energy is computed for every cluster. Optimization is performed with decoration of cluster by atoms and positions of this atoms as an optimization parameters.
The problem of atomic structure is discussed also in case of Mg2Al3 alloy. The first
phase of computation is performed for spherical cluster built by 73 atomic sites. Divide and conquer method is used to compute the potential energy of nearly all stable configurations of this cluster. The configuration with the lowest energy is very similar to the Friauf polyhedron composition with tetrahedron. More complicated models are created on basis of the first phase of computation for spherical cluster up to model of the primitive unit. It is possible to show the configuration entropy because of huge number of computed energies of atomic configurations.
