SUMMARY
. 'the. new, most south- western localities of the Upper Eocene and Lower Oligocene are described from the areas of Giobice, Szaszorowice and lMie-ch6w upOO Odra' ri·ver. The Upper Eocene is here developed in sandy-sandstone, <:alcareous-marly and siltstone facies. BOth substages have good mi<:ro-paleontological record, including guide species. Mo-reover, some pelecypods and gastropods are known from . these deposits. The Upper Eocene localities from this part of Poland evidence the existence of a wide embayment ~ the north-west European ma-rine basin which transgressed SW Poland from the area of German Democrati<: Republic. The microfau~
nE!l assemblage of the Upper Eocene comprises
num-mul1~ and guide species of the Mediterranean UpPlll" Eocene, whi<:h indicate the existence of some marine . connections and migrati<ID of 'bhe micro-fauna directly from the Tethyan !basin on the &>uth.PE310ME
