Microstructure of laser clad Ni-Cr-Mo W coatings and their high temperature
corrosion resistance
The subject of the dissertation is to examine the microstructure of laser-cladded Ni-Cr-Mo-W alloy coatings and their corrosion resistance. The coatings were applied by laser welding technique on the low alloy steel 13CrMo4-5, which is used in the construction of power boiler elements. Due to the low corrosion resistance of this steel, there is a strong need for effective protection against oxidation and loss of properties such as mechanical strength. Therefore, the aim of the work was to make coatings from the nickel alloy Ni-Cr-Mo-W, characterized by good corrosion resistance and examine the high temperature corrosion resistance in harmful gas environments: SO2, CO2, H2O,
O2 and N2 and in variation with deposited ash, contains elements such as: Na, Cl, Ca, Si, C, Fe and Al. Corrosion experiments were carried out for 1000 and 4500 hours at 600 °C. The corrosion results with the formation of oxide scales on the clads, which were analyzed by means of the techniques: OP, SEM, TEM, EPMA, XRD, XPS, respectively before and after the corrosion experiments. The obtained results were supported by thermodynamic calculations in the FactSage 7.0 program to identify the phases in the scale and tension. As a result of the tests, it was possible to determine the mechanism of corrosion and its kinetics for the Ni-Cr-Mo-W coatings in the environment of harmful gases and ashes.
