T h erm od yn am ic and econom ic analysis o f an ultra-supercritical coal-fired
pow er unit w ith an auxiliary turbinę
Abstract
The objective o f the w ork w as to assess the possibility o f further increase o f the efficiency o f electricity generation by m odifying the structure o f the coal-fired pow er units. The idea o f the steam cycle w ith the auxiliary turbinę (AT) consists in shifiting all the steam bleeds from the IP turbinę to AT, w hich fed w ith steam from the exhaust o f the HP turbinę. This solution leads to reduction in the tem peraturę difference in feedw ater heaters and decrease the losses associated w ith the entropy generation. The therm odynam ic analysis was perform ed for the conceptuał advanced ultra-supercritical 900 M W pow er unit for the cycle configuration w ith a single and double reheat and AT. A dditionally, the therm odynam ic analysis w as perform ed for the another pow er unit structures: parallel and series cooling o f condensers, various configuration o f the cycle w ith the extem al desuperheaters o f high tem peraturę bleed steam. In the w ork the analysis o f the pow er unit operation under part load w as also presented. A com parison o f various FW P drive options was conducted: electric drives w ith variable speed in tw o configurations (2xEM and 3xEM ), the condensing turbinę and AT. For the considered cycle configurations, w ith and w ithout AT, the analysis o f the im pact o f the pow er unit integration w ith the CO2 capture installation (wet Chemical
absorption M EA ) w as perform ed. The econom ic analysis o f selected pow er unit configurations was carried out. A pplication o f A T can only slightly increase the efficiency o f the electricity generation, but also can reduce the investm ent cost. A s a result, the pow er unit configuration w ith AT achieves favorable econom ic indicators.
