The paper presents final results of refraction in-vestigations of the earth's crust ,and upper mantle along international profile VII in the region
of
Po-land. The profile intersects the Sudetes, the fore--Sudetic region and, the Old European Platf!orm with its marginal zone. It was found that the crusta! thickness changes'· approximately from 3Qkm in the "Odra" deep fault zone to 50 km in the zone of the Teisseyre-Tornquist 'line' (margi.nal zone of the Eu-ropean Platform). A series of deep fractures divi-ding the crust into blocks and smaller segments of diversified physical structure was found. The deep fractures located in the zone of the Teisseyre-Tor.n-quist lineare
of fundamental importance for de-lineating the European Platform boundary in this re-gion. The physical structure of the' earth's crust in the zone of the Teisseyre-Tornquist 'line was foundto
have a clearly anomalous nature, being similar to crustal structures of intracontinent~l rift systents. In the fore-Sudetic region, the upper arid l.ower boundaries of the transition ZOIDe between the crust and the upper mantle were accurately detennined, An attempt was made to .interpret this zone on the basis of transformation processes of gabbro-eclogitetype.
