Subject: Operational Efficiency of Transport and Logistic System
In the domain of transport and logistics (T&L), operational efficiency (OE) can be considered to be the capacity of a T&L system to achieve high quality production and services in the most cost-effective way, where the cost can be in the formalities of time, money, personnel, energy, etc. Inefficiency of T&L can be caused by un-knowing how to be efficient and the lack of methods/tools/approaches to perform the T&L operations efficiently. To increase OE a set of features of within a T&L process, such as the reliability, availability, maintainability, safety, serviceability, utility, etc., need to be taken into account at both system level and equipment level.
This literature assignment is to survey the state of the art development of OE in T&L domain. This (multiple) assignment will be further formulated with detailed survey scope and subject. After defining a T&L field, which for instance can be a system or process of hinterland transport or material handling, the main tasks of this assignment should cover the following:
to describe OE and the relative definitions in the defined T&L scope to study how OE is measured
to indicate the features that affect OE
to investigate the concepts, methodologies and technologies to increase OE to summarize the benefit of increasing OE
This report should be arranged in such a way that all data is structurally presented in graphs, tables, and lists with belonging descriptions and explanations in text.
The report should comply with the guidelines of the section. Details can be found on the website. The mentor,
