Esteban García-Tamayo was born on November 23 1985 in Medellín, Colombia. He is a craft-beer passionate, frustrated futsal player, avid traveller and reader. He studied Engineering Physics at EAFIT University, Medellín, where he graduated in 2010. During the period of his
his studies he did research in the fields of (nano) materials science at different laboratories in Colombia (Applied Electromagnetism, EAFIT), México (CFATA, UNAM), Argentina (CAB, CNEA) and The Netherlands (NSM,TU Delft).Itwas in The Netherlands where he decided to continue his
his graduate studies and he started his PhD, in the fallof2009,atthe group ofDr.Erik KelderatDelftUniversity ofTechnology.
The work presented here collects four years of research and data, assembled in this book which is his doctorate dissertation.
