To calculate the stanine scores the results of test takers in each subject were ranked from the lowest to the highest and then the students were divided into 9 groups, where the 1st group (1st stanine) included 4% of students with the lowest score and the 9th group

(9th stanine) included 4% of students with the highest scores. In-between we have 7 other groups: 2nd stanine – 7%, 3rd stanine – 12%, 4th stanine – 17%, 5th stanine – 20%, 6th stanine – 17%, 7th stanine – 12%, and 8th stanine – 7% of the population.

In the tables below the score range for each group is given for both standard and extended level. In this way, we can find out how student’s individual score compares with the results of the whole population and get a reliable picture of the difficulty of the exam in each subject.

The stanine scores are given only for the major subjects with the number of test takers high enough for statistical analyses.
