KSIĘGOZBIÓR "AUSTRALIANÓW"
W CZYTELNI PRACOWNIKÓW NAUKI BIBLIOTEKI UMCS
Związek Artystów Plastyków ośrodka lubelskiego urządził w roku 1966 wędrowną ekspozycję dzieł swych członków w ośrodkach polonij
nych Australii, Wdzięczni rodacy rewanżując się przekazali w darze Uniwersytetowi Marii Curie-Skłodowakiej księgozbiór /w jęz, ang./, obejmujący 70 dzieł w 82 v o l , ( poświęcony w oałośoi Australii, a op

965
w 10 toinach, 6300 artykułów w układzie, \
alfabetyoznym z odsyłaczami, obejmuje ok, 2200 biografii, 1600 ar
tykułów przyrodniczych i 1400 geograficznych, dotyczących wyłącznie Australii, Osobne miejsce zajmują hasła speojalne,
zktórych ąrty- kuły o tubylcach i o udziale Australijczyków w II wojnie światowej są najciekawsze. Wydawnictwo albumowe pt,: "Australijczycy" R.B.
Do wydawnictw o dużej wartości artystycznej, dzięki pięknym ilustracjom, należą książki opisujące oryginalną faunę australij
ską, Jak np.: "Zwierzęta i ptaki w Australii" Graham's Pizzey'a, czy
"Muszle australijskie" Yoyoe'a Allan's i kilka innych z tej dzie
dziny. Odkryciom, dotyczącym Australii i rozwojowi tego kontynentu poświęcono szereg dzieł, z k tórych nalefy tu w y m i ę n i

w
Melbourne, zawierające w 2 tomach oałolcształt odkryó n a morzu i lądzie.
t
i t. 2: 1850-1900, wyd. przez C.M.H. Clark'a, prof, historii uni
wersytetu w Canberra. Jest to zbiór dokumentów drukowanych, po
dzielonych problemowo, pierwsze dzie3o tego rodzaju w Australii.
Materiał do-tej książki pochodzi prawie wyłącznie z bibliotek australijs kich.
Dzieło pt.: "Wyższe studia w Australii", wyd przez E.L. Wheel
“'Historia literatury australijskiej" A.M. Green'd w 2 tomach - 1: 1708-1923 i 2 s 19?3-1950, podkreślając początkowe naśladowni
w
Jakiś sposób wykolejeni. Dale k a droga wiod ł a od nich, poprzez dalsze zastępy obieżyświatów z okresu gorączki złota i fale imigrantów z Europy i Azji, dc dzisiejszych białych Australijczyków, bogatych hodowców, przemysłowców i prostych robotników.
czości związanej z krajobrazem australijskim i ż y c i e m prostych, ludzi.
John Russel
/185I8-1931/»portrecista i pej
zażysta, który długie lata przebywał we Francji, gdzie przyjaźnił
się %
Vincent'em Van Gogh'iem i Claude Monet'em.
i'ia zakończenie parę słów o książkach poświęconych tubylcom.
