Podczas ostatniego, trzeciego spotkania przeciętny czas potrzebny do rozpoznania grafiki termicznej wynosił 32 sekundy a poprawność rozpoznania wynosiła 86 %.
Autor wykonał model termiczny opisujący układ punkt cieplny - skóra człowieka odwzorowujący zjawiska fizyczne mające wpływ na rozpoznawanie znaków. Autor zaproponował sposób wyznaczania parametrów termicznych fragmentu skóry, takich jak rezystancja termiczna i pojemność cieplna.
The author of the doctoral dissertation has developed and improved an innovative device that helps blind people to recognize graphics or text. A blind person by touching multiple thermal points of the set temperature can feel warm or cold signs and can recognize presented graphics or text. The device is based on an innovative use of a Peltier micromodules as the touch points which generate hot or cold signs. In order to stabilize temperature of touch points, the author used the Seebeck voltage which was measured on the Peltier micromodule. Knowing the value of this voltage, Seebeck coefficient and a temperature of the heat sink, it is possible to determine the touch points temperature below the finger, this allows to control the temperature. The author made several versions of the device in order to check the correctness of thermal characters generation. After testing the device by the blind and the introduction of improvements, the author built a device that generates thermal images sent directly from a computer.
The author of the doctoral dissertation made software that allowed a group of blind people, to perform a series of exercises which consisted of recognizing seventeen thermal images. For proper recognition of one shape during the third meeting blind persons needed 32 s (median), the effectiveness of graphics recognition was 86 %. Author made a thermal model describing the system: heat point - human skin takes into account physical phenomena affecting the character recognition. Author proposed a method of determining a thermal parameters of a fragment of a skin surface, such as thermal resistance and heat capacity.
