In my view, the greatest advances in the polygraph profession in the last 100 years, outside of instrumentation, have been in three areas. Th e fi rst, is the evolution of testing techniques particularly in Zone of Comparison testing. Second, the use of numerical scoring and systemizing chart analysis through a better understanding psycho-physiological indicator of deception; scoring rules; and statistical probabil-ities. Lastly, the advances in recognizing and understanding countermeasures and the improvements in counter-countermeasures tactics.
