Uogólniony Zbiór Penrose'a w analizie strukturalnej kwazikryształów
dekagonalnych
Zbiór Penrose'a jest najpopularniejszym modelem używanym do opisu kwazikryształów dekagonalnych. Jest on zbudowany z dwóch rodzajów rombów pokrywających płaszczyznę w sposób aperiodyczny.
Generalized Penrose Tiling as a model for structure refinement of decagonal
quasicrystals
The structure analysis of decagonal quasicrystals is still a great challenge. One of the important problems is determining the long-range order of the structure, i.e. the right kind of decagonal tiling. A vast majority of (if not all) models of decagonal quasicrystals in the literature are based on the Penrose mutual local derivability (PMLD) class of tilings. The long range order for all PMLD class tilings is the same, if the structure is described by one tiling from the PMLD class it can also be described by any other tiling from this class. Generalized Penrose Tiling is the extension of Penrose Tiling and it does not belong to PMLD. Both types of tilings are build with the same two types of rhombs, they both possess fivefold symmetries, and tenfold symmetry of diffraction pattern. However generalized Penrose Tiling have additional parameter that allows for changing of the tile arrangement. There is therefore infinite set of different generalized Penrose Tilings, each of them having different long range order. Aim of the thesis is to derive structure factor of the arbitrarily decorated generalized Penrose Tiling and apply it to the refinement process of the Al-Cu-Rh decagonal quasicrystal.
