Zainteresowanie nanometalami na świecie stale wzrasta, o czym świadczy lawinowo rosnąca liczba publikacji i konferencji naukowych i naukowo- -technicznych poświęconych temu zagadnieniu.
Zachęcam Państwa do lektury!

Dear Readers!
Technological progress in many industrial bran-ches related to the manufacturing sector is determined by the development of new materials. One of the ways leading to that objective is forming their micro-structure in order to obtain nanometric form be-cause nanomaterials possess unique utilization pro-perties, including strength, unavailable in the case of conventional materials. That is why nanometals have become the determinant of industrial material innovativeness in many branches of the world, in-cluding Polish economy.
Common use of nanometals in industry depends on creation of effective and economically justified methods of manufacturing them. Recent years have witnessed intensive development of technologies con-sisting in structure break-up by the methods based on severe plastic deformation (SPD). Those techno-logies of undoubtedly innovative character make it possible to manufacture nanometals with prospecti-ve applications in many branches of industry, inclu-ding that of transport means (automotive, aircraft industry), medical industry and manufacturing in-dustry.
The world interest in nanometals is constantly increasing as evidenced by the avalanche growth of the number of publications as well scientific and technical conferences devoted to that issue. Works in the field of nanotechnology can also be found in the Metal Forming periodical. In particular, number 4 put into your hands, presents the results of investi-gations concerning nanocrystalline metals, based on knowledge and experience of the Authors. The deve-lopment of nanomaterials and material technologies related to them is one of the fundamental elements of building economy based on knowledge, especially in the manufacturing sector.
