My name is Michael. As I take look at my roots, I see that small village near Salinas, California. A desolate place that could hardly be considered a tourist attraction, but for me it was the place of first and best friendships. I think it all dates back to the late seventies, when my grandpa used to take me to the local choir meetings every week. I remember the old brick house very well because it was one of the main gathering places in the village, though it looks rather small and ordinary today. I liked those meetings a lot, as this was one of the very few pleasures in the everyday life of a five-year-old rural boy. I liked the music they played as well as the atmosphere they created during those meetings. I think it was in those early days when I decided to devote myself to professional singing.

It was quite hard in the beginning. Me and a few of my friends formed a group which performed in a local club. It was a middle-sized house uptown, a former storage house which afterwards remained empty for a decade to be finally renewed and remodelled to serve as a restaurant and then a music club. We played jazz first but found out soon that our Californian villagers were not really fond of that kind of music. After we switched to rock and roll, the situation changed. You must know we performed almost for free three times a week. Fortunately, our local fans and people from neighbouring villages filled the room almost every night. It took quite a long time till we were finally noticed by an art critic who, after he had seen our show, offered us a professional recording session in L.A. We hit the market with our first few recordings within a few weeks. Our first albums sold very well, which was quite surprising for us, young rural boys quite inexperienced in show business.

We started touring around the state of California, and soon we gave concerts on the East Coast too. We did not make our career fast but it is true we became more and more popular across the United States. Winning the New York Top Twenty was our greatest success. Then we were invited to play in Great Britain, where we have been staying till now. We have been half of a year in the UK. We appreciate it of course, but we have not made up our minds yet. We are just homesick.
