TRANSKRYPCJA NAGRAŃ Zadanie 1.

Kate: John, will you go shopping with me tonight?

John: Well, I’m not sure. Where do you want to go?

Kate: I’ve been thinking about some chain stores in the High Street. The sales are on so we can get some real bargains.

John: Oh, come off it. Your wardrobe is already full of clothes from sales. I think you should buy something extraordinary for a change. We could go to the new designer store which opened last week.

Kate: Oh John! Don’t be such a snob! Do you remember the jeans I bought in a chain store two years ago? I didn’t pay much and I’m still wearing them. And they look great.

John: That must be an exception. Designer clothes are better quality and they last longer.

Kate: I don’t think so. I’ve heard many stories about clothes by famous designers which wore out after one season.

John: Do you really want to wear the same clothes year after year?

Kate: If they are good and comfortable, why not? You won’t convince me. I’d rather go to a chain store even if it means going through hundreds of items. I can buy some cheap things and still have some money left for a concert or cosmetics.

John: I prefer to buy one thing of good quality and save myself time and effort.

Kate: But not everybody can afford to buy designer jeans.

John: Designer or not, I’m too busy today. I won’t manage to go shopping with you. How about tomorrow?

Kate: No, I have other plans for tomorrow. I’ll go without you then.

Hello, I’m calling to say that I know how to solve the problem of loud phone conversations in public places. We just have to stop accepting such behaviour. I think that a waiter in a restaurant or a security guard in a museum should react and ask the person who is talking loudly to leave.

If there were more of us, we could force the authorities to change the law. Join my profile on Facebook to show your support.

Last Saturday I went to the cinema to see a comedy. It had funny dialogues and to follow the story it was important to focus on them. However, I couldn’t concentrate because a man sitting behind me used his mobile at least five times during the first half hour of the film.

When I heard another ringtone, I turned around and asked the man angrily to leave as it was hard to watch the film. He looked offended but he left.

Do you believe that a public place should be free of loud phone conversations? We have a clever device that might help. If you order it, it will be quite easy to block the signal from mobiles and make your place free from ringtones and loud conversations. If you run a cinema or a restaurant, visit us on www.freeofmobilessupport.com.

Once I went to a classical concert with my wife. I was waiting for an extremely important message from my boss, so I left the vibrating alarm switched on. But the text came when there was a short break in the music and there was a deep silence in the hall so people sitting next to me heard the text come and looked angrily at me. I promised myself that I’d never bring my phone to a concert again.

Man: I have a complaint to make.

Woman: Yes?

Man: I’m not satisfied with the hotel you recommended to us. When my family got there late at night, it hadn’t been cleaned so we had to wait a long time for our room.

The next morning we discovered that the room had a view onto a busy street though we’d asked for a sea view. When we called the hotel manager, he told us that he had no record of such a request. How is it possible? I asked for a room with a sea view in the booking form I filled in right here in your office. Besides, the food served in the hotel restaurant was suitable only for adults. Our kids didn’t want to eat anything and we had to have meals somewhere else. We paid £2,000 for the holiday so we expect compensation.

The morning after the referendum was memorable. I was standing in a big crowd in George Square in Glasgow with my friends and neighbours, waiting for the results. We all voted for Scotland to be a separate country from the UK. I’ve been living here all my life and it was great to see that so many people in the crowd thought the same. We were going to celebrate the victory but then we got the news from the capital. Most people in Scotland had decided to remain a part of the UK. We were sad we had lost but still felt united and proud to be Scottish.

Man: Oh, look at this one.

Woman: Well, I think it may be a very good choice.

Man: Yeah, it’s got very good reviews, and there is a film based on it. The critics are enthusiastic about it.

Woman: I’ve already read the book, and I know there are a lot of things in it we could discuss in class.

Man: And some of our students might like it and feel encouraged to read other books by this author.

Woman: I hope so. Let’s ask the seller if we can get a discount if we buy 20 copies.

Man: Isn’t this you in this photograph? What a dress!

Woman: I was one of the bridesmaids.

Man: Why are some of the people wearing smart clothes while some others are in jeans and T-shirts?

Woman: My friend Anna sent off a group text when she was inviting people to her wedding, and one of the numbers was wrong.

Man: Don’t tell me a stranger decided to turn up?

Woman: Yes! Just for fun. He and his friends wanted to leave, but Anna asked them to stay.

Man: So are they the ones wearing casual clothes?

Woman: Yes. All the others look so elegant, and the bride’s dress is fabulous.

Last week a pizza shop driver from Portland had a crash while delivering a food order to an elderly lady. Two police officers appeared at the scene of the accident. When they heard the driver call his boss to explain why he couldn’t deliver the food, they offered to do it for him.

The surprised driver thanked them. When the elderly lady opened the door, she got worried seeing the police officers in uniforms. But when they told her the whole story, she was impressed and grateful.

Chris: I’ve just seen the new film about Martin Luther King, Selma. It’s a great movie.

Joan: I didn’t know you liked biographical films. Did Sarah tell you about it? She’s really into biographies.

Chris: No, actually, they showed a trailer when I was at the cinema last week. Most of the scenes looked awesome.

Joan: Well, I usually get useful information about films on rottentomatoes.com.

It’s a really professional website.

Chris: Oh, I know it. It’s great! They’ve got the most up-to-date information.
