P.A. de Zwart Simulatie van een exportmagazijn.
Computer program, Report 94.3.LT.4378, Transport Engineering and Logistics.
At the department Corporate Logistics & Distribution of Heineken Technical Services B.V. a feasibility study is done into the application of automated guided forklift trucks in warehouses.
The goal of this computerstudy is to support and to complete the feasibility study by making a simulation model with Taylor II, a simulation package. A simulation is necessary, because dynamical and stochastical aspects cannot be taken into account in hand calculation. Furthermore the new version 2.20 of Taylor II has been evaluated for general application and for the specific application to design and analyse the warehouses of Heineken.
A basic simulation model is made of the export warehouse of 's Hertogenbosch. After some programming tricks in Taylor aod some model simplifications, the results became almost in accordance to the real situation. The differences, which still remains, can be explained. Further a model is made of the new warehouse design. A great number of simulations is made of different scenarios, proceeded from the feasibility study. The scenarios differ in
storage/loading, drive speed and the period in which trucks can be loaded.
In spite of the limitations of Taylor II aod the simplifications of the simulation model, the results of this simulation study can be used to support the feasibility study.
Taylor II does not meet the requirements of Heineken. It is not general applicable to warehouses of Heineken, while it is not possible to built aod simulate different lay-outs and scenarios in an easy and fast way.
