Presenter: Welcome to our weekly look at the world of cinema. First, we re going to hear ’
from our entertainment reporter, Holly Thomson, about a special film programme for teenagers. Holly, can you tell us a bit about Fresh Films?
Reporter Yes, Fresh Films is a programme which started over ten years ago to give teenagers experience in film-making. It gives access to training, equipment and connections to help make their dreams come true. Their mission is to develop teenagers talent and potential. ’

Reporter The professionals guide and lead the teenagers on the film set, but it s the ’
teenagers themselves who are responsible for all aspects of the film production. It s a ’
hands-on, practical programme.
Presenter How exciting! How do you get a place on the programme?
Reporter Well, it s open to anyone aged 13’ –18. All you have to do is explain to the
organizers why they should choose you. If they choose you, you ll spend a week working with a ’
team of teenage film-makers to make a real short film. Some of the past participants now have careers in film. Some teenage film-makers even got to work with Hollywood celebrities.
Presenter And do you need experience to enter the programme?
Reporter No, absolutely no experience is necessary. You just need to love films and film- making. You will also like working in a team.
Presenter Tell me about The Stream.
Reporter After a decade of making short films, Fresh Films decided to do something different and they created a feature-length film …
Presenter That s a full’ -length film, isn t it? ’
Reporter Yes, that s right. Groups of teenage film’ -makers worked together to film and produce scenes from a full-length feature film. The result was The Stream.
Presenter And the film was released on iTunes as well as in the cinema.
Reporter Yes, and all the money raised from ticket sales and downloads was donated to
charity. Presenter Thanks Holly. Maybe we ll see more feature- -length films from Fresh Films
