inclement weather, the

Senior Center will also cancel all of their programs and transportation.

radio stations. There will be a message on the Senior Center answering machine by 8am indicating the status of the Senior

Center. There will be a notice posted on our Facebook page.

The Senior Center is offering fun, private guitar and ukulele zoom lessons from the convenience of your home. Free complimentary 1st lesson. MUNICIPAL MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION

The DialǦaǦRide Medical Transportation and Caregiver Mileage reimbursement program started their new fiscal year on July 1, 2021 and runs until June 30, 2022. Residents who are 60+ or persons with disabilities are  eligible for the service. A oneǦpage application is required in order to register. If you have already registered for the program, you do not need to complete a new registration form. 

Registered participants who cannot have their needs met by existing services will be provided a limited number of oneǦway trips per grant year (36) or as the grant dollars allow.

OPEN ENROLLMENT PERIOD for  MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS



This period can be used by a person who has an active Medicare Advantage Plan as of 1/1/2022. During this Open Enrollment Period (OEP), January 1st ± March 31st, a beneficiary can:

x Switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan (with or without drug coverage) to 

 another Medicare Advantage Plan (with or without drug coverage);

x Leave the Medicare Advantage Plan and return to Original Medicare by selecting a prescription drug plan

 (Part D).

What beneficiaries cannot do:

x Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan;

x Join a Medicare Part D Plan;

x Or switch from a Medicare Part D Plan to another Medicare Part D Plan.



The change can only be used once during the OEP. The new plan become effective the first of the month after the plan receives your request. Call the Senior Center office at 8607395859 if you require assistance.

Open to NonǦResidents 

if there is availability NonǦresidents will be charged a $1.00 surcharge.

Senior Center Fun Trips use a bus from the Center for transport to and from destination. # of seats very limited.

Registration begins the 1st business day of the month starting at 8am. Call the office to register and then make

your payment by 4pm on the 2nd business day.  You can only register yourself for a trip.

Senior Center Fun Trips are limited to one a month.

DAY TRIPS 

Wed, Jan 12th Ǧ we are heading to the Hideaway, Old Lyme for lunch with shopping afterwards.  Departure time is 11:00am and expected return is 3:30pm. Trip fee is $5pp

(transportation only).

REMOVAL OF THE PIANO FROM THE SENIOR CENTER

When the Community Center opened in 1989, the Women's Club purchased a piano for use by the departments located within the building. 

It has been many years since this piano has been used and  we are now looking to remove it. 



If someone knows someone who would be willing to take it, please let the Senior Center  office know.

ENERGY ASSISTANCE FOR 21/22 FALL&WINTER SEASON

Applications for the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program will be taken at the New  London office of TVCCA. Please call that office to make an appointment with them at

860Ǧ444Ǧ0006. The Senior Center will assist the Senior and Disabled population of East Lyme with their applications. Please call the Senior Center at 860Ǧ739Ǧ5859 for an appointment. 

To be eligible:

1. In a oneǦperson household, income can be NO greater than $39,027. In a twoǦperson household, income can be NO greater than $51,035. 

2. For this year only, there is no asset test for a household.

The following information is required:

1. Proof of income sources: copy of most recent monthly (quarterly, annual) check or copy of an award letter or copy of most recent bank statement showing the direct deposit. If you are employed you must provide a copy of your four most recent consecutive pay stubs. 

2. Dividends, annuities or interest income (has to be more than $10/month). Copy of a statement for the most recently completed period.

3. Proof of what you pay for rent. In addition, the name, address and telephone number of your landlord is re‐

quired. If you are a homeowner and pay a mortgage, you must provide proof of your mortgage payment.  4. If you have a checking and/or savings account, you must bring in the most recent ENTIRE statement.

5. If natural gas or electricity heats the household, bring in the most recent ENTIRE statement.

6. If a household heats with oil, you provide the name of your vendor. In addition, you must also provide a copy of your most recent ENTIRE statement from Eversource.

Please remember all members of the household who receive income must report their income.
