Novel monitoring and process control system
OPTI-VFA is a European research project recently started (01/09/2013) with the central aim being to develop a low-cost industrial measurement system for real-time monitoring of Volatile Fatty Acids (VFA) in anaerobic digestion plants. These probes will play a primary role in the second objective of the project, namely the design and implementation of an advanced control strategy that automatically guarantees plant stability while optimizing their performance according to different operational goals, i.e. maximizing biogas production, maximizing VFA production, etc.
