Living as a
„plant” and death
Comparison of death and living as a plant in terms of the atmosphere in a family, pain or even financial issues caused by the second one, leads up to a conclusion that both of them remaining very different, are at some point similar.
Among many aspects that make death the worst of the worst solutions there are such as pain, eternal inability to “take part” in anything that surrounds us. First of all, what cannot be denied is that, regardless of how much close a relative it is that has gone, it brings a lot of pain. On the other hand, however, although at the very beginning it seems impossible, in the course of time, one comes to accept the loss of a close person and learns how to live without him or her. Each end brings something new and, though it may hurt us, sometimes it is the irreversible deprivation of hope, energy for people in the person’s environment. One aspect that, being so very much obvious, frightens people most is that death, once having taken you away, will never let you see what waits for you. Is there anything worse than that?
Discussion concerning being a plant as a form of being alive (in comparison to death), demands taking into account the following: hope, pain given to family members and others, the person’s feelings and the fact that, being a plant, nevertheless, means being alive. Firstly, as opposed to death, this time pain is continually refreshed. Whenever you see the person’s pain, your suffering is intensified. One cannot know what situation to get used to; those remorseless questions, like how, when, how long, will anything change? never leave you – the pain will not vanish as long as it is refreshed. Since the world of medicine has been developing throughout centuries, and illnesses that were incurable years ago are no longer such, each day brings new cures for next illnesses. Although it is pain one goes thorough, one is still alive and can still happen to come across so many wonderful things; it is worth being patient and waiting for new achievements in the world of science. For some, being a plant seems much worse than death, it happens
so because of the strong feeling of being a burden. Very often one blames oneself for mining their family’s life, involving so much money depriving others of their own interests. At such moments one easily forgets he/she can somehow wonderfully bring happiness to others’ lives, others learn how to bear pain looking at them, which they do not see.
On the one hand, as we see, life being of the greatest value, we should be happy if we are given a chance to have it; healthy or not, we can participate in whatever is called existence, which is impossible for those who are dead.
On the other hand, however, living as a plant, being completely dependent on the apparatus, for some means the same as being dead; for others it is even worse than that, especially if it is money, others’ effort, feelings that are concerned.
