From the Editors

The 12

th

volume of the „Studies into the History of the Book and Book Collections” traditionally consists of texts concerning history of the book.

There are 18 original articles and two communicates concerning history of books and libraries from the medieval ages up to the second half of the 20

th

century, both in Poland and abroad. The reviews can be found as well, and the chronicle presenting in brief conferences and research sessions which took place in 2018, interesting for the researchers focused on history of books and libraries, and the media specialists as well.

As usual, we would like to kindly thank all the Authors for interesting texts, the Reviewers for their meritorious comments and editorial assistance, and the members of the Editorial Board for cooperation enabling the best possible preparation of the volume to both e-publication and printing.

We would also like to inform the Readers, that the special volume of the

“Studies into the History of the Book and Book Collections” is under prepa- ration, concerning the role of the book and its institutions in development and preservation of cultural heritage of the 2

nd

Polish Republic. The kind invitation to the Authors to participate in this publication is still valid – we are waiting for the texts to the end of February 2019.

The year 2018 was the time of continued efforts of the Editors for devel- oping an improved, electronic version of this journal, and its implementation to the Internet platform of the Faculty of Journalism, Information and Book Studies, University of Warsaw. Therefore in this volume of the “Studies into the History of the Book and Book Collections”, as well as at the journal’s website we have made some changes to achieve standards of e-journals edit- ing. They include in particular: implementation of the digital object identifier (DOI) of each article, and obligatory requirement of the ORCID number for the authors – we cannot accept texts without it. Regardless changes – already implemented or planned – we would like to assure our Readers, that the

“Studies into the History of the Book and Book Collections” will be available in a printed version as well.
