Zadanie 2.

A few years ago, my wife in one of her weaker moments allowed me to persuade her to go on a family vacation without planning. "Let's just put the kids in the car and head off".

Kay looked at me blankly and asked, "But where are we going to go?" I told her I didn't know, but we'd find out together. It would be an adventure!

She said, "Why in the world would you want to do that?" "Almost every minute of my day is planned", I said. "I need a vacation from planning".

Filled with excitement, I put kids in our van and we all headed out across California desert with no idea at all where we were going and what we would do.

Night one: arrived in Durango, Colorado, slept in the car, because there were no motel vacancies.

Night two: made it to Denver and discovered that there wasn't a single motel room available, either. How was I supposed to know the annual rodeo was in town? Every room had been booked for weeks. Once again we slept in the car.

Night three: found a vacant motel room near Nowheresville, Utah. Our luxury suite had a screen door hanging by one hinge, but it didn't matter, because the screen was punched out and the bugs were getting through freely. From sheer exhaustion, we all flopped down on beds. Looking up, we

noticed dozens of little cockroaches crawling across the ceiling. Within a minute we were all back sleeping in the car again…

These episodes continued every night of our vacation. Last night when I was sitting in a loud and smoky Las Vegas hotel lobby at one in the morning, waiting for someone – anyone – to check out I thought, "Boy, what a big mistake this was, what a total failure". Then I remembered what Thomas Edison said: "Don't call it a failure. Call it education". From this point of view, the vacation was extremely educational.

Zadanie 3.

A: And now dear listeners Mary Smith will present her recipe.

B: Delicious, golden peanut butter muffins aren't too sweet and have a good nutty flavour. You could serve them with a curry or chicken dinner or with roast pork. For breakfast, pass them with butter and honey.

Preheat an oven to 200°C. In a large bowl stir and toss together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt. In a medium bowl beat peanut butter until smooth, then beat in a few spoonfuls of the milk, melted butter and eggs. Stir in the peanuts. Add to the dry ingredients and stir until blended. Spoon into the muffin tins, filling each cup about three-quarters full. Bake until toothpick inserted in the center of a muffin comes out clean, about 15 minutes. Cool in the tins for 5 minutes, then remove.

This amount of dough makes about 16 standard muffins.
